High Production of Internal or External Threads?
Gage them fast with Comtor Thread Gages!!

On the right is a Comtor Thread Gage for measuring the pitch diameter of internal threads.

The gage probes (stem mounted, precision grade, gage balls) contact at the pitch diameter of the threads, comparable to the three-wire system. The probes are allowed to "float" to compensate for lead variation.

The probes retract into the gage head for protection while the gage is inserted into the threads to be measured, then project into the thread to produce precise measurement of the pitch diameter.

For measuring pitch diameter of external threads, this is the Comtor Snap Thread Gage.

Incorporating the conventional method of gaging pitch diameters, using three standard AGD gage pins in a self-contained unit. The gage pins are allowed to "float" to compensate for "drunken" threads or lead error.

Exploring for out-of-roundness or taper is as easy as rotating the part within the gage, or re-positioning the gage along the length of the thread!
